North Texas Aviation Centennial Celebration 2011
Overview
January 12th of 2011 will maker the 100th anniversary of powered flight in North Texas.
The Veterans Memorial Air Park (VMAP) and the Fort Worth Air & Space Museum Foundation (FWASMF) have partnered to manage and market a yearlong celebration of 100 years of aviation heritage in North Texas and the leadership role the area has played in aviation and aerospace developments since 1911. The Centennial Celebration, Bringing Aviation History to Life, will introduce the educational resources currently available at VMAP and the potential for greater benefits after the construction of a new museum and education center at Alliance Airport by 2016. This will be accomplished by:
Ø A series of monthly themes relevant to the area’s aviation history highlighted by events and activities targeting youth in grades six through nine and incorporation S.T.E.M. principles where possible
Ø Utilizing volunteers, businesses, organizations and associations to plan, organize and conduct each month’s activity or event
Ø Soliciting sponsors for financial, in-kind and resource support along with participants who will conduct monthly activities or programs
Ø Marketing the Celebration through the website, social media, publications, television, radio and speaker’s bureau
Ø Developing promotional materials to be sold at events
Ø Establishing measurable goals to evaluate progress and outcome
Attached you will find a short version of our themes and topics for 2011. Please consider joining us as an “Official Participant or Partner” in next year’s North Texas Aviation Centennial Celebration. All participating NOTAAM members will have access to resources and promotional considerations when you sign up and it is free.
